List of Books for Grieving Siblings

I recently read a Facebook post from a dear friend who is grieving for her brother that died suddenly a few weeks ago.  She shared her heart and let her friends know that she is hurting and missing her brother like crazy!  I was so thankful that she shared that because it made me aware of what she is going through and how I can be praying for her.  Life can be so tough sometimes!  Thankfully she has a relationship with Jesus and knows He is with her and will walk her through this tough time.  She also has friends and family that are walking through the grieving process with her.  I wish there was a way to take away all of the pain and hurt.

I also have a cousin that recently passed away.  Her sister is missing her like crazy too.

I believe that there is a book written to help me with every situation that I am going through.  When I am going through situations, I look for a book to help me.  If you are looking for a book to help you with your grief for your sibling, I hope one or more of these books will help you.

If you know of a book that should be on this list, please comment below so I can add it.  Thank  you!

If you are grieving for your sibling, I pray that you will let God help you through the process.  Cast all your cares on Him.  I pray that He will give you peace that passes all understanding!

This week’s Bible story is about Joseph and his coat of many colors.  I can’t wait to see if Hadley will tell me the story about Joseph and his coat of many colors after she learns about him.

List of Bridesmaid Gifts

This list of bridesmaid gifts is for all of you that are planning your wedding.

My daughter got engaged on Labor Day!  We are so excited!  I have been looking at wedding stuff since that day and will likely be posting a lot of wedding lists in the near future.  Bridesmaid gifts are gifts that most brides give to their bridesmaids.

I will be adding to this list as I find new stuff and as I am told about new ideas.  Feel free to comment below with any suggestions that you have.  🙂 Continue reading

List of Geology Stuff for Kids

Geology is not a science that many people think much about.  My daughter graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology.  I’m not sure that she was even aware of a Geology degree until she got into college.

Most children are interested in collecting rocks at different ages in their childhood.  I think my daughter said she learned about rocks in 4th or 5th grade.  Some children are more interested than others.

I’m so glad my daughter was able to discover this interest in college because it really wasn’t something that I even thought  to offer her to explore an interest in.  You really never know…  I imagine that her teacher in 4th or 5th grade sparked an interest in what she taught that planted a seed for her future.  🙂  I did talk to one of her teachers, Mrs. Gregg, that did teach her a unit on rocks.  I’m not sure if she was the only one, but I am thankful for her and any others that planted those seeds.

List of 3 Year Old Homeschool Plans Week 5

We have made it to 3 year old homeschool plans: week 5!  This week the Bible Story is about Noah and the ark that God told him to build.  This is a very fun story for most kids, I think.  It will hopefully be fun for you to teach.

We are also learning the letter Bb and the number 3 this week.

Hopefully Jessica will be able to get some teaching done next week–week 5.  We are on Hurricane Irma watch right now.  This hurricane is crazy!  We are praying that the hurricane will not come to Charleston, SC.  If it does come here, homeschooling definitely will not be a priority, but it might be good for keeping busy.  We shall see.

If you are doing 3 year old homeschool with us, have a great week!

List of 3 Year Old Homeschool Plans Week 4

This is review week!  If you are doing 3 year old homeschool, how is it going?  Yesterday, Jessica said that Hadley is acting like she doesn’t know the colors and numbers that she learned the past few weeks.  I told her I am not sure that she is not playing around–pretending that she doesn’t know them because that is not what she wants to do.

She frequently knows we are asking her questions and expecting certain responses.  She likes to not give the response that she knows that person wants.  For example:  If I ask her, “who loves you?”, she knows I want her to say, “Grammy”.  She will choose to say, “Poppy” or “Mommy” or “G”, looking for me to respond in shock or whatever…

We are constantly having to try to figure out how to outsmart a 3 year old!!  How do you teach when they don’t want to cooperate?  You have to get very creative!   Instead of asking for the blue blocks, you may say, “I wonder how fast you can put all of the blue blocks in the bucket”.  The focus goes to “how fast” rather than “blue blocks”.  🙂

I would love to hear your creative ways of teaching in the comments below!

List of Gifts for 3 Year Olds

My granddaughter’s 3rd birthday was Monday.  Time sure does fly!  This list of gifts for 3 year olds is a list of items that I was looking at purchasing for her birthday and things that I did purchase.  Some things are more for girls, but a lot of them are for girls and boys.  I hope you will find this list helpful if you are shopping for a special three year old in your life!

List of 3 Year Old Homeschool Plans Week 3

This is week 3 plans for 3 year old homeschool for Hadley!  I’m writing this as Jessica is beginning her 2nd week of homeschooling Hadley.  Jessica said that Hadley thinks that she is supposed to be the teacher, so I suggested that she have Hadley read to her baby dolls after she reads to Hadley.  She can have Hadley tell the Bible story to her dolls after she tells Hadley the story.  We’ll see if that idea works.  Hadley really enjoys mothering her baby dolls, so she may participate.

It really can be a challenge at times trying to get children to do what you want them to do.  I think it is a challenge at every age–the challenges just change.

If you are beginning homeschooling your 3 year old, please leave me a comment below letting me know how it is going at your house.  Is everything going exactly as planned?

List of 3 Year Old Homeschool Plans Week 2

Oh what fun three year olds are!  I am preparing this lesson for next week.  Hadley came to see us for a little while today so her mom could go to an appointment.  Her Boz Colors and Shapes video came in the mail yesterday, so I thought Hadley and I would sit down and watch it while she was here.  🙂  She was not interested in sitting down and watching a movie.  Hadley was ready to play.  I tried to convince her to watch it with me, but she got upset that I was interrupting her play time.

Then I remembered reading about not making teaching something they hate.  I can teach while she’s playing without her even realizing I am teaching.  We can talk to her about the shapes of her toys.  I can also talk about the colors of her toys.  We can look at and read books without her realizing my need to teach her.  🙂 I played the video while she was playing.  Every now and then she would look at it and she would even repeat what they said.  She occasionally would sing a song they were singing.
