List of Wineries in South Carolina

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, in May.

In Pigeon Forge they have the Rocky Top Wine Trail that is free.  I love FREE!  Not only are the tastings free, but you get a passport stamped at each of the 6 locations and you receive a free gift at the third location and last location.  We received wine glasses after the first three and wine bottle coozies after the last three.  It was fun and it began our adventure of visiting wineries.

Neither of us know much about wines, but we are learning a little each time we do a wine tasting.  We haven’t exactly figured out what wines we like best except that we know we prefer the sweeter ones.  At first I thought that I hated Muscadine wines, but after tasting different ones I realize it depends on the individual wine.  I really don’t think I like the ones that are stored in wood barrels, but I’ll continue to try them at tastings.  They would not be ones that I would choose if I am limited to a certain number of wines to taste.  Some of the wineries let you taste all of the wines at their tastings and others limit you to a certain number of them that you choose from a given list.

I have included the prices on wine tastings that are effective when writing this.  The prices may change, so you may want to check their website for an update or call them.

Wine Tasting South Carolina

Cleveland:

  • Victoria Valley Vineyards    I have visited this vineyard.  It is the one vineyard that looks most like what I imagine a vineyard to look like.  Beautiful scenery!

Easley:

Enoree:

  • Old Rock Quarry Winery
    • Wine Tasting is $7 for 7 wines or $10 for 10 wines
    • This winery specializes in sweet wines.  I love sweet wines!
    • 5/11/19–My husband, daughter and I visited this winery today!  We all loved everything that we tried!  My daughter bought a blackberry wine from them and we got a Raspea Sangria–Raspberry Peach Sangria.  They said we could put the Sangria in a gallon freezer bag for 4 hours for a wonderful wine slushie!  We are planning to do that sometime this week.  They did recently win medals for three of their wines!  Their bottles of wine were $13!!  This winery is just minutes off of I-26, exit 41.

Hilton Head:

  • Island Winery
  • I have heard great things about this winery, but haven’t been yet.

    •  $10 wine tasting (8-10 wines)–price includes free souvenir wine glass
    • I have visited this winery twice already.  It is not far off I-26 Newberry exit.  You can sit out on the porch, that overlooks the vineyard, with a glass of wine.  Great place to sit back and relax!
  • Proverbs 31 Winery
    • Open by appointment

North Myrtle Beach:

I Love Wineries!

Pelzer:

  • City Scape Winery

    • $12.95 premium wine tasting (10-12 wines)–price includes cheese tray and souvenir wine glass
    • We really enjoyed this winery.  The cheese tray was a very nice addition.  I think it is my favorite because of the cheese tray.  They also have a pig that you can visit with while you are there.  🙂  The products on the cheese tray come from Happy Cow creamery which is only a few minutes away from the winery.  My daughter loved the jelly that we were served and wanted to go to the creamery to get some.  They had a variety of yummy stuff at the Happy Cow Creamery!

Rock Hill:

Traveler’s Rest:

  • Wellborn Winery
    • $5 wine tasting (5 samples), complimentary wine glass
    • $10 wine tasting (10 samples), complimentary wine glass
    • We visited this winery on 7/28/18!  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and loved every wine we tried.  This is the first wine tasting that I have done that I liked all of the wines!  🙂   The owners were great!  They just opened on 7/4/18!

Wadmalaw Island:

  • Deep Water Vineyard
    • $5 wine tasting (5 samples), complimentary wine glass
    • This winery is the one closest to us.  We visited it last month.  The vineyard is beautiful.  There is also a distillery next to it, so you can do wine tasting and then go next door for tasting at the distillery if you wanted to.
    • 5/4/19 My husband, daughter and I visited today.  We were in the area and couldn’t not stop in.  We each got a wine slushie, had food from the food truck and sat back and listened to the band playing that afternoon.   They do have a little shop there and my daughter likes to pick up some Benne wafers whenever we go there.
